紫陶刻花,最难的是什么?

有陶友询问,建水紫陶刻花工艺中的难点有哪些,我觉得主要有以下四个难点。

Some ceramic friends asked what are the difficulties in the carving process of Jianshui purple pottery. I think there are the following four difficulties.

一、刻花深浅靠经验去感知

1、 The depth of engraving depends on experience

在湿润的坯体上,用锐利细小的刻刀将文字和绘画的笔迹刻出来。在坯体厚度小于1厘米、甚至许多小件作品坯体厚度普遍小于0.5厘米的情况下,如何确保刻花既不损坏坯体、又可以保证填泥和精修顺利完成,很考验刻花匠人的感知能力。

On the wet green body, the writing and painting handwriting are engraved with sharp and small carving knife. When the thickness of the green body is less than 1 cm, and even the thickness of many small pieces is generally less than 0.5 cm, how to ensure that the engraving does not damage the green body, but also ensures the smooth completion of filling and finishing, tests the perception ability of the gardener.

刻得太浅,填泥厚度不够,在后续精修和最后的打磨时,很有可能将一些装饰的画面修掉或者磨掉。

The cut is too shallow and the thickness of filling mud is not enough. During subsequent finishing and final grinding, it is likely to repair or grind off some decorative pictures

如果刻得太深,甚至刻穿坯体,立刻就造成损坏;即使没有刻穿,填泥时也容易压坏坯体,或者烧制时填泥处容易烧裂。

If the cutting depth is too deep, even if the green body is cut through, it will cause damage immediately; even if there is no engraving, it is easy to crush the green body when filling mud, or it is easy to burn and crack when firing.

每一个坯体的厚度不会全部相同,所以需要刻花匠人依靠自己的经验去确定刻花的深浅度,没有长期的积累,难以做到优秀。

The thickness of each green body will not be the same, so the engraver needs to rely on his own experience to determine the depth of engraving. Without long-term accumulation, it is difficult to achieve excellence.

二、不规则的曲折线条,使得刻花难度增加

2、 Irregular zigzag lines make engraving more difficult

无论是坯体上的绘画还是书法文字,线条都是随机的,而且是曲折回环、毫无规律的。刻花匠人在操作时依靠手部去灵活转动,极为繁复。特别是一些精细的线条,往往刻一个小局部就会耗费大量时间和精力。

Whether it is painting or calligraphy on the body, the lines are random, and zigzag and irregular. The engraver relies on his hands to rotate flexibly during the operation, which is extremely complicated. Especially some fine lines, often carve a small part will consume a lot of time and energy.

三、需要细致保留书画线条的原始韵味

3、 The original charm of calligraphy and painting lines should be carefully preserved

这也是目前建水紫陶刻花领域最为大家看重的。一件作品,无论书画家装饰得多好,如果刻花匠人不能较好地刻出原有书画的韵味,填泥后的画面也会大打折扣。

This is also the most important field in Jianshui purple pottery carving. No matter how well decorated a work is, if the gardener can’t carve out the charm of the original painting and calligraphy, the clay filled picture will be greatly reduced.

涉及的装饰风格和题材不同,对刻花的要求也会出现巨大差异。如果是装饰细微繁复的山水画、笔走龙蛇的草书或者是其他诸如羽毛、建筑细节等等题材,往往需要数年甚至数十年积累的刻花匠人才能较好地完成。

The decorative styles and themes involved are different, and the requirements for engraving will also vary greatly. If it is a delicate and complicated landscape painting, cursive script or other themes such as feathers and architectural details, it often takes years or even decades of accumulation of engravers to complete it.

四、最难的还是耐心

4、 The hardest part is patience

刻花实际上是一份很容易让人感到枯燥的工作,每天盯着毫无规则的、密密麻麻的线条刻,很容易让人感到疲惫,丧失耐心。

Engraving is actually a very easy to make people feel boring work, staring at the irregular, dense lines every day, it is easy to make people feel tired and lose patience.

但刻花又是一份极其需要耐心的工作,不耐心细致,静不下心来,是做不好这份工作的。

But engraved flower is a work which needs patience extremely, is not patient and meticulous, can not be quiet, is not good at this job.

无论是前面的三点还是其他的很多细节,最后都需要一份耐心和细心,这是整个刻花工艺中最难的。

Whether it is the front three points or many other details, we need patience and care in the end, which is the most difficult in the whole engraving process.
